Jackson Davies is a contemporary oil painter based in Potts Point, Sydney. Jackson paints dynamic images of the human form that are emotionally evocative and sensitive.
With a background in art conservation, Jackson has great admiration for Old Master techniques and materials. He is committed to the development of his practice through the painterly study of these revered artworks.
Jackson has been a finalist in esteemed art prizes including the Doug Moran and Mosman Art Prizes, and in 2019 he was awarded Winner of the Northern Beaches Art Prize. Jackson has held residencies in Sweden and Portugal and his work appears in private collections around Australia.

Masculine Sensibilities
Masculine Sensibilities is a collection of paintings from 2022. Works feature male subjects in a variety of imagined and domestic settings. Rather than planning my paintings, I prefer to work intuitively and over a long period of time. Working slowly allows me to reflect upon the emotional resonance of what I am trying to capture. Painting is a way to respond to and record my surroundings and thoughts. I find the practice to be an exploratory and contemplative activity. It is my way of making sense of my life. As a result I feel a strong emotional connection to my paintings and I sincerely hope that it is expressed in the works themselves. This collection, my first solo exhibition, represents my effort to develop my technique and subjects- to ultimately see how far I can push myself as a painter.
