Artworks available to view in Sydney

Bronwyn Woodley Graham is Australian by birth and has exhibited in most major capital cities at home and internationally.  Her works have been featured in various publications and are held in public and private collections in Australia, Hong Kong, the UK and USA

Bronwyn works predominantly in the medium of oils and spent four years training in the classical style of the old masters. From about the age of 20, Bronwyn worked as a graphic artist and began her fine art career painting mainly portraits.

“As a portrait painter, I make no apologies for still being totally enamoured with the uniqueness of each individual face…but…it’s the landscape that has recently left me with an indescribable urge to explore it in all its achievements.”

Bronwyn’s landscapes are predominately semi-abstract in style and invoke the viewer to respond to her unique interpretation. Often painted from her own imagination her work has been described as ethereal, emotive, expressive and original.

“My painting is a visceral and emotional response to my surroundings and the images I collect and store within. I often paint imaginary scenes, inspired by nature but allowing the painting to take me on a journey of discovery that often ends far from where my original concept began”

“Pushing the boundaries between the real and imagined has become a new, but likely long-lived attachment for me.  Most of my recent work is a combination of that.  It has become a journey towards a destination or place that I am at home with. Neither true, nor false, but something I have fallen in love with along the way.”

In her work, Bronwyn beckons the viewer to enter the space within the painting, creating their own personal journey. Her work invites a sense of mood or memory, a feeling or emotion that captures a moment. Her work can often be both dramatic and ethereal. “In all my work, my goal is to remain truthful in my response to a subject. This can be either real or imagined.”

“When I finish a painting I want to be able to stay there and exist within the image. If I can do this then I am comfortable that the viewer will also be able to create their own unique dialogue. Then I am happy that my work is done!  In the end it has little to do with me, the artist, and everything to do with you, the person looking at my art.” – Bronwyn Woodley Graham

Bronwyn works from her studio in Balmain, Sydney from where she paints and teaches a selective number of students each week.
