Peter Watts stands as a distinguished landscape artist, gaining acclaim as a finalist in the 2021, 2022 and 2024 prestigious Glover Prize. Renowned for his adept portrayal of ephemeral moments, he expertly captures the interplay of light and shadow in the expansive skies and rural settings of Southern Australia.
“I aim to fill my paintings and drawings with the energy that I have absorbed from my favourite places along the NSW coast. Thinking about regeneration and cycles of life, 50 years on this planet, looking, contemplating, drawing and painting, to try to understand it through an artist’s eye.”

“For me, my work is a journey, ever evolving with continuous growth. Recently I started exploring more loose, abstract pieces with more gold leaf applied and I am loving painting them and loving how they are turning out.
My exhibition will have these abstracts on show and also some of my favourites from my other series. My hope is that my work will trigger a memory or a personal experience for the viewer. “
