How would you describe your signature style?

My signature style doesn’t fit in one design style box. It’s a mix of contemporary and mid-century, minimal yet art-filled, and I love anything with sculptural shapes and interesting marble veined stone. I lean towards a warm neutral colour palette, and this ties all the elements together.

Art can transform a space: What would be your tips when purchasing art?

Yes, it absolutely can! Art brings personality and soul to a space. On the practical side of things, always measure the space of where you want the art to go, and make sure the scale of the artwork will work in proportion to the wall area and other furniture and objects in the room.

Visually, you want to make sure the colours of the art will work within your home. You don’t want the art to stand out for the wrong reasons, so consider the colours and the saturation of colour, will suit the room. For example, if you have a mostly neutral home, then a high chroma bright coloured artwork might not suit the style and mood of the room.

There are often times when an artist’s work has sold out in a show, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on their art. Speak with the gallery owner / curator about a private commission, that way you can have an artwork customised to your exact specifications.

Lastly, buy art because you are madly in love with it, not because it’s on trend or you need to fill a wall space quickly. It’s best to wait until you find, the one.

What is your favourite colour palette for interiors?

I love muted desaturated earthy tones and warm neutral. I find they are timeless and suit most interior styles.

What is your favourite trend at the moment?

Sculptural shapes – everything. I’m seeing interesting shapes used in furniture design, lighting and of course with art. Artists are pushing boundaries with unusual forms and mediums including, ceramics, metals and acrylic and I’m loving it.
