Pathways

“I am interested in creating imagery that ignites and uplifts the spirit. Through the pathways I create, I try to combine movement between interwoven shapes and forms. I like to use vibrant colour and layered texture to translate this energy into imagery. I tend to immerse myself in this journey and incorporate the spirit of the places I have travelled to and the diverse cultures that have impacted on me. Houses seem to feature a lot in my works as there is something exciting and mysterious about them as each one can tell a story and is a metaphor for the physical and mental journeys we all experience. My works are often a celebration of the simple things in life which capture my emotion and become a fusion of festivity on the canvas.”

-Nikki Perzuck 2011

Nikki Perzuck is a Melbourne based artist who believes the purpose of her painting is to uplift the spirit. Nikki's paintings invite you to explore a dynamic culmination of vibrant colour, form and adventure. A major influence for Nikki has been her extensive travels to Europe and Asia where she lived and worked in Paris, living in the heart of the La Marais district in “Place Des Vosges” where she was transformed by the creative influences around her. She escaped to the south of France during the festive seasons where she immersed herself in the music and wine festivals of the region. Nikki also explored Spain and often reflects on the vibrant colour influences and architectural charm which continue to inspire her.

Nikki graduated from a Bachelor of arts in Graphic Design in 1992 and has since had quite a diverse career in design. Ranging from designer/art director for textile companies to colour trends forecast designer for interiors. In recent years, Nikki has shifted her focus back to her true love of painting.

Nikki has incorporated the spirit of the places she has traveled to and her signature houses feature throughout her works. “There is something exciting and mysterious about houses as each one can tell a story and at the same time have plain or decorative elements of intrigue to them.” They are a metaphor for the physical and mental journeys we all experience in life. In spite of her travels abroad, the Australian landscape is her dominant influence with its ever changing colours, imagery and coastal views.

Nikki's works are a celebration of the simple things in life and she captures them with vibrant colour mixes, layered imagery effects and exciting movement. The viewer is immersed in this mysterious journey and can follow the pathways or just enjoy discovering hidden elements.

Nikki exhibited at Art Melbourne & Art Sydney and has been involved in several successful exhibitions and art shows. Nikki was a feature artist in the Canterbury Art Show and the Balmain Art Show, 2010. Nikki recently exhibited her works at the world renowned Estense Castle in Ferrara, Italy in October, 2010 for the “Creative Energy” International Art Exhibition. Nikki joined 40 artists from around the world, selected by the artistic committee at Trevisan International Art. Nikki has recently been invited to exhibit in an International Art Exhibition at La Galeria in London.

“We've been fascinated by your personal, vibrant and powerful abstract art research where the interaction of space, form and colour connection create such an intense emotional result able to go beyond the physical limits of the canvas." Paola Trevisan – Art Curator, Trevisan International Art
