Artworks available to view in Sydney

Li Bo is a professional artist from the Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, bordering Hong Kong. He graduated with a Bachelor Degree from the college of fine arts at Changchun Normal University and in 2004 and 2008 was awarded second prize by the Jilin Province. His contemporary artworks are held in collections at the Jilin Province Art Museum and Changchun Normal University.

His earlier works were inspired by his travels through North West China in 2003 reflecting the unspoilt, remote provinces. Li Bo broke away from the traditional technique he was taught at university to create his own distinctive style. He calls this 'Jili' using pure colour and simple composition for a strong 'visual wallop'.

Li Bo's latest series Security captures the bustling affluence and alienation of urban life in Beijing, Shanghai and Canton. 'I love sunshine, but the people here have no time to feel and enjoy their surroundings as they are eroded by their environment. I use pure color, like red yellow or blue as the background of my paintings and no color for the portraits to express it...'
