Artworks available to view in Sydney

Upcoming Exhibition at Art2Muse Gallery 25 April – 8 May 2012

Audrey's latest work captures the radiant palette and moods of summer and encompasses a range of themes. From the invisibility of women as they age to the creative process in her studio in a humorous and whimsical way. Her distinctive layering technique translates to oils in this painterly series to reveal luminous layers and intricate detail in subtly textured vignettes.

Artist Statement

'Everyone is an artist - there are no rules in making art - the art-making process is all about self-empowerment.'

We are all born artists. Children reveal this in their picture making. My work addresses the child in all of us. We presume to teach the child how to make art. In the tranquil reverie of my art-making, I find myself returning again and again to my childhood solitudes. And through this dreaming I marvel at how the solitudes of my childhood appear to me in my adult-infused imagery.

While working on my Master of Art in Sydney over twelve years ago I began experimenting with refined beeswax as a medium in my art-making. This 'discovery' changed my life's direction in many exciting ways. From an art student passionate about finding ways to express myself, I have become a full-time exhibiting artist. My work has become a 'window' on to my experiences and observations through the intricate layering of paint (oils) and beeswax. This technique has become my signature - and my passion. Galleries represent my work in Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, Los Angeles and New York.

My technique with the layering of beeswax creates a transparent, marble-like texture on the surface which also becomes very tactile. The layering process is also a lot of fun as well as being inspirational, challenging and even therapeutic.
