Born in South Africa into a family of artists Robyn Chantal Smith moved to the USA as a young married woman where she had a family and lived for the next 13 years. In 2001 the family settled in Australia where they now permanently reside.
Robyn started sculpting a few years ago after dabbling with painting, interior design and other numerous pursuits. She currently balances her sculpting with raising a family and working as a crisis counselor. She draws inspiration from all the women in her life, both past and present. Her life has been shaped by both triumph and tragedy, which is reflected in her work.
Her sculptures celebrate what it means to be a woman, both young and old, exploring the different emotions experienced in their daily lives. The women are very tactile, inviting you to touch and explore their curves. They are faceless so that they could be anyone to anybody.
All her sculptures are available in either a cold poured resin or bronzes of different patinas. The sculptures are available in a limited edition of 8 after which the mold is destroyed, ensuring that each sculpture is unique in the patina chosen.
Robyn’s sculptures are editions of 8. They are suitable for indoors or outdoors and commissions can be arranged.
