Launch 6pm – 8pm Thursday 15 June 2017

Lara Scolari is a Contemporary Australian Visual Artist, who lives and works full time on her art making practice within her vibrant light filled studio located in the heart of Sydney’s harbour side village of Balmain.

A gestural action painter, Lara’s work is produced in an Abstract Expressionist style that explore developed experimental techniques and processes.

The Contemporary Luxe body of work focuses on the simplicity of the organic curve and the symbolism of the circle/realm. Focusing on the tonal combinations of rich and luscious colour together with simpler considered compositional forms. Lara builds up each work using a variety of media including archival Ink, acrylic paint, pastel & oil stick, creating depth through elegant transparent layers that reveal sumptuous hidden dioramas.

Created and designed in collaboration with Sydney’s leading and award winning interior designers the Contemporary Luxe series of works are designed to be installed in multiples, however each work is visually developed, strong and striking will create impact as a stand-alone work.

Prolifically producing strong considered bodies of work, Lara’s coveted artworks are beautiful in organic form, line, shape and composition.

“Lara Scolari’s has applied her brand of cool chic to her latest exhibition… her work is captivating and modern.  It’s an extraordinary statement of sculptural intent and bold hues – a style that never goes out of fashion.”

Gavin Atkins & Warren Sonin – Designer Boys

Within her art making practice, Lara focuses on exploring a range of mediums such as Painting & Drawing (large scale, mixed media), Sculpture (clay – hand building), Printmaking (Collographs and Relief), Digital Media as well as Textiles.

With many years’ experience working in the Arts and Cultural sector, Lara continues her study and is currently undertaking a Masters in Cross Disciplinary Arts and Design with UNSW Art & Design.
